Man, the last 24-hours, or so, have been really weird.
So, first of all, about 24-hours ago, I go on YouTube, and I see that Bushiroad has sold New Japan Pro Wrestling – THE New Japan Pro Wrestling, the wrestling company behind literally the best pro-wrestling rivalry and feud ever (Okada vs Omega) – for around $22.6 million dollars, to TV Asahi and CyberAgent.
Then, 24-hours later, I go on YouTube again, and this time I see that NJPW has uploaded a ‘free match’. But not just any free match, we’re talking literally one of the best pro-wrestling matches ever: a 1-hour+ match between Kazuchika Okada vs Kenny Omega. So, I’m like ‘oh shit, this is awesome….how nice of NJPW to make this match free to watch on YouTube’. Then, I look at the comments, and I see that everyone is complaining about the ending of the match being removed. So, let me get this straight, NJPW uploads a video, and, both on the thumbnail of the video; and in the video title, literally calls the upload a ‘Free Match’ – which HEAVILY implies that the whole match, in its entirety, is present in the video….then they show the whole 1-hour+ match….EXCEPT the ending (after Okada hits a rainmaker the video comes to an end). I mean, that’s hilarious. It’s also a scumbag move. I’m just glad I looked at the comments first and didn’t watch the match just to be let down at the end of the video. I don’t know which company is responsible for this (it might be TV Asahi or CyberAgent, or possibly Bushiroad who may have, a while back, scheduled the video to become viewable ), but it’s a scumbag move, and it is also quite hilarious, at the same time, to be honest.
So, anyway, regarding Bushiroad selling NJPW for around $22.6 million…. I mean, I do not know what NJPW is worth in terms of monetary value, but I am going to go out on a limb and say it is worth way WAY more than $22.6 million USD. I mean, what the fuck were Bushiroad smoking when they agreed to that sale. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone told me NJPW was worth 10-times that.
